Workshop-description:
Sports & Art: Graphic and painterly design at special locations along selected bike tours in the Pöllauer Tal Nature Park

The focus is on artistic creation. The interplay between physical activity, visual and cognitive perception, moments of calm, and artistic expression will guide us harmoniously yet purposefully over the course of three days.

We’ll be exploring the area around Pöllau by e-bike, so we won’t exhaust ourselves physically and can channel our energy into artistic creation. Our studio is nature itself—places we can only reach by bike. The landscape around us offers a variety of subjects, as do the shared experience of riding together and the impressions we gather along the way.

Back in the studio or along our bike routes, we draw, glue, create collages, take photos, or write as freely and relaxed as possible, using materials we’ve brought along or whatever we find on site.

Depending on our wishes and needs, we’ll cover several stages. The movement and physical activity give us new perspectives and free us up to constantly explore new creative approaches in shaping our work. Our goal is not a detailed image, but rather a sketch-like processing of internal and external impressions.

We discuss the routes at the start of each day. There is an introduction to basic cycling techniques. At each stop along the way, we’ll discuss artistic practice and the various techniques we want to explore or develop. Everyone chooses which ones to focus on, and we welcome collaboration with the artist.

In addition to the necessary drawing supplies, appropriate cycling gear is also required: a helmet and bike backpack are absolutely essential; participants are encouraged to bring cycling gloves, a jersey, a rain jacket, sunglasses, and possibly protective gear.

We would like to thank Biohotel Retter for their hospitality and for giving us the opportunity to hold the workshop here. They have also put together a special Übernachtungsangebot
