An artistic exploration of plants in painting and textile art, from drawing to quilting

We approach the plant world through drawing and textile art. The focus is on a slow-paced, exploratory practice: looking closely, observing plants, and translating these observations into our own artistic processes.

We begin outdoors—with our senses wide open. What shapes, colors, and textures can be discovered? How does a plant move, what shadows does it cast, what sounds and surroundings accompany it? Through various techniques such as pencil drawing, watercolor, gouache, or collages with natural found objects, a growing visual diary emerges. The focus is on daring to shift perspectives and playful experimentation.

Through repeated observation of a selected plant scene, small stories emerge: personal connections, memories, atmospheres. These stories form the basis for the second phase of the workshop, in which we work with locally and seasonally naturally dyed fabrics.  

These are transformed into textile collages and hand-sewn quilts. The collaborative process of dyeing, cutting, and sewing creates a rhythmic workflow that blends exploration of nature with textile design.

The workshop invites participants to sharpen their own perception and rediscover the connection between nature, materials, and artistic expression. The result is a small, personal plant quilt as well as a collection of studies, memories, and drawing exercises—a poetic companion for future artistic journeys.
