Workshop description:

A week of photography set against the backdrop of the Baltic Sea, street theater and summer light.
When streets become stages.

Summer on the Danish Baltic Sea: beaches, a harbor, green beech forests, and a city brimming with art. The port city of Helsingør, located about 50 km north of Copenhagen, is now one of Denmark’s most exciting cultural destinations. At the Kronborg Cultural Harbor, industrial history, contemporary architecture, and the sea converge. This is also the site of the famous Kronborg Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and known worldwide as the setting for Shakespeare’s Hamlet.

In the summer, the city transforms into a grand stage during the PASSAGE Festival. This international street theater festival is one of the largest of its kind in Northern Europe and brings artists from all over the world to Helsingør. Contemporary circus, performance art, theater, and experimental stage formats take place directly in public spaces—on streets, in squares, at the harbor, or on the beach.

Stage Photography Workshop with Christian Strassegger

The workshop offers a unique opportunity to explore live performances and stage art through photography.

In the midst of the festival action, participants learn to capture the movement, light, dramaturgy, and emotions of performances. We photograph international artists directly during their performances in public spaces—accompanied by image reviews, individual tips, and group reflection.

Particularly interesting for beginners, but also for photographers. Under the experienced guidance and artistic support of Christian Strassegger, we will explore various aspects of stage and event photography:

  • Photographing international live performances in public spaces
  • Capturing movement, atmosphere, and audience interaction through photography
  • Individual feedback and image reviews with artist and photographer Christian Strassegger
  • Developing a photographic series based on festival events
  • Networking opportunities with artists and festival organizers

Good reasons to visit  Helsingør:

  • Summer on the Baltic Sea
  • Beaches, a harbor, and beech forests—just 50 km north of Copenhagen
  • Citywide Festival
  • 150–200 PASSAGE Festival performances transform streets, the harbor, and public squares into stages
  • Perfect subjects for stage photography
  • International artists and spectacular live performances
  • International encounters with artists, festival organizers, and participants from all over Europe.
