Workshop description

This workshop deals intensively and creatively with the colors and shapes of nature! We will mainly incorporate plants, but also soil, mushrooms and stones from our immediate surroundings directly into our works of art. We will make paints from various natural materials and use them to write, print, draw, paint and dye, and we will work extensively with Eco Print. Eco printing, also known as botanical contact printing, is a printing technique in which selected plant parts are stained, boiled or steamed in a pressed state so that the plant then transfers its color and structure to paper or fabric. Last but not least, the artist will talk about dyeing paper and fabrics with plants and other natural materials. We will prepare an indigo pulp with fructose and "naturally dye it blue.” Art production and experimenting with plant dyes as well as working in/with nature are the focus of this course! Weather permitting, we can work outside in nature. In any case, we will go for walks to search the surroundings for plants and other natural materials. This can also be done in concrete areas.

The course will be held as sustainably as possible.
