Title: If you can't wear the mandinga, you can't wear the patuá
Category: Textileprint/Mixed Media
Description: Fabrics, stones, salt, herbs
Patuás are talismans, magical protective objects that are popular throughout Brazil. They are materialised forms of secrets and enchantments that, by removing them from the mercantile-colonial logic, help us to experience life differently. The patuás are a form of embodiment, a form of "bringing healing technologies into the world" that bring about a syncretisation and pluralisation of society.
Where are the Patuás when we need them most? In this world of multiple crises, we are looking for irony and popular wisdom to help us find ourselves at crossroads.
