Since 2020, Styrian Summer has fulfilled the criteria of the Austrian Umweltzeichens für Green Meetings/Events.

Styrian Summer Art has been categorised as a ‘green event’ since 2020. ‘It is very important to us to also consider the workshops from an ecological point of view’, says Michaela Zingerle, "the materials used during the workshops are tested for environmental compatibility and sustainability”.

Climate protection and climate change adaptation affect everyone

Together with  Ich tu's - Energie und Klimaschutz - IchTus (steiermark.at) and www.eccoversum.at as a certified education partner of the ‘Climate protection in adult education’ project, we were able to specify our offers and activities for climate protection and thus achieve the eco-label for Green Meeting/Event.

The focus is on the climate check to systematically discover potentials and measures for climate protection in the organisation. Styrian Summer Art is supported in expanding the content of our visual arts programme to include climate protection topics, ensuring the integration of climate protection in the association's mission statement and implementing measures for a climate-sensitive location.

Buy regionally and fairly, travel by public transport, use resources carefully and sparingly, buy climate-friendly products, be creative when recycling.

‘It is very important to us to organise our courses and events in an environmentally friendly way,’ says chairwoman Michaela Zingerle. ‘We select the materials we use in workshops according to environmentally friendly and sustainable criteria, and the supplies come from the region and from organic farms’. The event therefore fulfils the criteria of the Austrian Ecolabel for Green Meetings.

A catalogue of measures was developed together with www.eccoversum.at which is continuously evaluated and improved and identifies us as a certified educational partner of the  project.  "Klimaschutz in der Erwachsenenbildung" in Adult Education’.

Criteria for this include

Use of materials: we pay attention to the origin (regional and fair) and resources when purchasing materials and also invite our participants to do so. (Tipps zu Nachhaltigkeit beim Malen)

Waste avoidance: we avoid unnecessary waste and separate it carefully

Catering: Food is provided by the local farm shop or regional organic producers, e.g. Apfelschmiede 3er, Kaffee-Familienfarm Kleine Bohne, Biogut Retter, goldblatt, Hofkäserei Thanei, Bio-Sphäre Wechselland.

Mobility: Unfortunately, Pöllau is not easily accessible by public transport. Information here: Anreise nach Pöllau

If you are travelling by train to Hartberg or by bus to Hartberg or Kaindorf, you can request a  SAM shared taxi.

Also consider the possibility of using or offering a lift. Some recommendations from the environmental counselling service: greendrive, blablacar, ummadum.

We also motivate our course participants to take these points into account.
