Clara Frühwirth

Clara Frühwirth is an illustrator from Graz. After a BA and MA in Art History, a BA in Information Design, attending the Master School of Art and Design - Painting and a diploma in Social Pedagogy, she combines all these areas in her work as an illustrator. She combines analogue working methods with digital possibilities. It is often inconspicuous things that give rise to new works. As a result, her tendencies as a draughtswoman have continued to move towards illustration, particularly of picture books, in which she continues to immerse herself.

Title: Carrier pigeons
Category: Graphics
Description: Get to work!  Pigeons are part of the cityscape. The ‘carrier pigeons’ series is intended to revive earlier forms of communication and remind us of the pigeon as an important bearer of messages. The miniature motif of a pigeon is used as a postcard subject. People are invited to bring short messages to the page and pass them on.  Sustainable alternatives were used in the realisation and existing resources such as everyday household utensils were incorporated: The intaglio prints realised on recycled plastic packaging were printed on paper using a pasta press, allowing for a limited edition - with urban appeal, they contribute to an urban attitude to life.
