General Terms and Conditions 2027
Registration
Registration for any of the Styrian Summer Art events or courses (workshops, studio classes, symposia, outings, excursions) can be made in writing, via the website using the form provided, by email or by telephone. Registration by the applicant is binding for all participants named in the application. The contract comes into effect upon acceptance by the "Styrian Summer Art” association (hereinafter referred to as the Association) and upon dispatch of a booking confirmation.
Upon receipt of the booking confirmation (by email or post), the course fee becomes due and, unless otherwise stated, must be paid into the bank account details provided above within 14 days – or, in the case of last-minute bookings, no later than the day before the workshop begins.
Discounts
Young people up to the age of 18 receive a 20% discount when taking part in workshops. Art students up to the age of 26 receive a 20% discount when taking part in courses.
Workshop fees
Unless otherwise stated in the workshop description, the workshop fee does not include materials, meals or accommodation.
Workshop times
You will find the course times in the relevant description; these usually include a lunch break of approximately 1.5 hours (or breaks will be agreed during the course).
Registration deadline
In principle, unless otherwise stated, registrations can be made up to two weeks before the course begins, provided places are still available. Should a course be fully booked, a waiting list will be drawn up; alternatively, participants may choose an alternative course or cancel their booking free of charge.
Force majeure:
If the workshop or the arts and culture programme is cancelled due to force majeure at the start or during the course of the event, the workshop fee will be refunded on a pro rata basis for the duration of the cancelled sessions. No further claims may be made against Styrian Summer Art.
CHANGES TO THE PROGRAMME OR CANCELLATION
The workshops and events are planned well in advance; therefore, changes may occur to the programme – for example, regarding workshop leaders, artists, dates, the venue, etc. – and we reserve the right to make such changes.
If an event or workshop has to be cancelled for organisational reasons (e.g. illness of a workshop leader or other unforeseen circumstances), there is no entitlement to the event taking place, and any workshop fees already paid will be refunded in full without any deductions.
Compensation for any further expenses of any kind (e.g. travel costs, loss of earnings, travel and/or accommodation costs, etc.) is excluded.
Should it become necessary to reschedule the event, we will refund any workshop fees already paid if participants are unable to attend due to the new date; otherwise, the registration remains valid unless an objection is raised. No further claims may be made against the association.
Cancellation Policy
The participant acknowledges that contracts concluded with Styrian Summer Art constitute contracts for ‘leisure services’ within the meaning of Section 5c(4)(2) of the Consumer Protection Act (KSchG). No right of withdrawal is provided for, even if the contract is concluded by means of distance selling (e-mail, internet, telephone, etc.). Should you nevertheless wish to withdraw from the contract, the following cancellation terms shall apply, unless otherwise specified:
Cancellations on your part must be made in writing. However, a substitute may be provided for the registered participant at any time, in which case no cancellation fee will be charged by Styrian Summer Art.
Otherwise, the following applies:
Cancellation up to 4 weeks before the workshop begins: free of charge. The cancellation fee after this deadline is 55 per cent of the workshop fee.
If you do not attend, the full amount will be retained. You are responsible for cancelling any travel arrangements and accommodation you have booked, and for paying any resulting cancellation fees. If you leave the workshop early, you are not entitled to a refund of the full workshop fee or any proportion thereof, nor to any travel or accommodation costs.
We strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance, such as: www.europaeische.at/veranstaltungen/kursseminarkongress-stornoschutz
Miscellaneous
The association reserves the right to cancel the workshop up to 10 days before it begins due to an insufficient number of participants. In this case, the fee paid will be refunded in full. No further claims may be made against the organiser.
Services not utilised cannot be reimbursed. We reserve the right to make changes to the programme, to swap or replace individual workshops and/or workshop leaders, and to cancel individual workshops in exceptional circumstances or if the minimum number of participants is not reached.
For legal reasons, it is not permitted to bring pets to the workshops.
Photography and filming
We would like to point out that photographs and films may be taken during events organised by the Styrian Summer Art association. By taking part in the Styrian Summer Art programme, workshop participants expressly agree that the association may take photographs of them and publish photographic and/or video material taken of them on popular social media platforms (such as Facebook, WordPress, Twitter, Flickr, …) or use it for its own promotional and documentary purposes across various media (print, TV, publications, …). This also applies to photographic and/or video material provided to us by participants.
Consent to the recording and/or publication of photographic and video material may be withdrawn in writing at any time.
Data processing
The personal data provided upon registration – in particular name, address, email address, telephone number and bank details – which are necessary and required solely for the purpose of fulfilling the resulting contractual relationship, are collected on the basis of statutory authorisations. Any use of personal data beyond this scope and the collection of additional information require the consent of the data subject as follows. The data subject consents to Styrian Summer Art sending information, newsletters and offers relating to further art and cultural programmes by post and/or email for advertising purposes. This consent may be withdrawn at any time without giving reasons..
Liability
The association accepts no liability for accidents or damage occurring during the workshop, provided that it can be proven that these were not caused by negligence on its part. Workshop participants take part at their own risk and must follow the instructions of the workshop leader or the specialist staff.

Items that have been forgotten or left behind, or works of art created during the workshop, will be kept by Styrian Summer Art for 6 months. After this period, they will be disposed of, recycled or donated to charitable causes. The association accepts no liability for items brought onto the premises (theft)..
Jurisdiction and Applicable Law
The contractual relationship with the association arising from participation in a course is governed by Austrian law, with the exception of those conflict-of-law rules which refer to the law of other countries. It is agreed that the competent court in Graz shall have jurisdiction over all disputes arising from the contractual relationship.
